Toodles Golden Doodles ~ how it all began

I am sure that many who discover our site wonder a bit about our name. Yes, it rhymes and has a nice ring to it 🙂 But the reason that we named our breeding program “Toodles Goldendoodles” was actually in honor of our very first goldendoodle, Toodles. Our oldest daughter, 3 years old at the time, was in love at first sight. They quickly became best buddies. She kept hearing us say the word doodle as we were contemplating names and began calling her “Toodles”. It sounded a bit silly to us but oh so endearing and, needless to say, it stuck. She was the first much-loved goldendoodle here on our farm and has never been forgotten. We still carry on her lines in our program with some of her great, great grand-puppies.

Family Oriented

Now that I have told you a bit about the history of our name, let me tell you about ourselves and our passion for doodles...We are the Amsler family. I (Michelle) grew up in a family that always had a dog. I was an animal lover from the beginning. My family began to raise dogs when I entered my teenage years. From that time until I left home, we raised German Short-haired pointers and then chocolate labs. I always enjoyed the dogs but developed allergies over the years so was fascinated when I heard about doodles. When I began my own venture, I completely fell in love with the goldendoodle ~first for their lack of shedding and allergy-friendly properties and then just because they are the absolute BEST dogs EVER. I couldn’t believe how intelligent, easy to train, affectionate, and beautiful they proved to be.

My grandmother had Irish setters when I was a child, and they were always my very favorite dog...so after raising Goldendoodles for a few years, we added the (barely heard of at the time) Irishdoodles as well. They are a magnificent breed as well. Our family works together here on our farm and in our breeding program. Our children (single digits to adult) are very involved in the socialization of the puppies! Our vet has told me that she has never seen such well-socialized puppies. While we have a larger breeding program compared to some, we don’t lose the personal touch with our dogs, puppies, and new owners 🙂 At the moment, 11 of us that live in our home, my parents (who moved onto our property and also joined our business in 2019). Our daughter-in-law and a few close family friends take care of these babies on a daily basis. ALL puppies are born in our home and spend their first 6 weeks right in our beautifully designed, peaceful whelping room. There are heated floors and warm lights and we play music for the parents and puppies. The puppies then move to our puppy room~a building directly behind our house that was also designed for that specific purpose..

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide health, well socialized, affectionate, beautiful family companions. We have worked with many of our lines for 3-4 generations...often, if you reserve a puppy from one of our litters, we have worked with that puppy’s parents, grandparents, great grandparents and even great-great grandparents...on one or both sides. This means that we have known and provided puppies from that lineage for many years now. We can vouch for the health and temperament of the puppies from that lineage not only through the health testing done on the parents but also through the time, experience and feedback that we have with those lines. We do OFA and/or DNA testing on all of our parents and they all come from OFA and/or DNA tested lineage beyond the parents. We aim to connect families with a puppy that fits what they are looking for physically (size, coat type, allergy needs) as well as emotionally. While we can never guarantee the adult size, coat type or temperament of a puppy, we certainly have a good idea of what to expect through our years of experience.

We also understand the scientific side of doodle breeding and take the underlying trait genetics of coat, color and curl into consideration when pairing our parents on top of the health disorder genetics to provide the best possible pet for each family. Each of our puppies is raised with ENS (early neurological stimulation) as well as some puppy culture practices. When a family takes a puppy home, they can touch all four paws, touch all around the ears and muzzle and even run their fingers along the puppy’s gums as well as turn a puppy on it’s back for a belly rub. These all help with overall adaptability as well as prepare the puppy for grooming, taking routine meds and overall tolerance.

Our Vision

Our mission and vision are almost one and the same. We intend to continue to improve our lines and offer the best of the best to families seeking an adorable, family/allergy friendly, health pet.
